I found the idea of reproductions a fantastic way for people to be brought together, literally! The idea of uniqueness is everyone actually puts forward that if we are all individual we are all the same in some way.
I found the presentation inspiring; it made it fun and interesting, getting the viewer involved before its even started, genius!
I am going to try out your suggestion, but you won’t know when its coming…

I really liked the story-did you write this? Or was it already in existence somewhere. Was it a response to a photograph as in a morph photo on your site? Identity-do we talk to people because of what they do, how they look?
Do you think you know who you are having an anonymous dialogue with?

Enjoy Hilary’s story reminds me a bit of the old fable of the found mirror (can’t remember what the title was) but it was about a beautiful then ugly person I think, and it was the mirror, the reflection that caused the problems.
Thanks- oh and Gok Wan on how to look good naked, always uses a mirror as a point of self acceptance.

You’re beautiful, but that’s just a subjective comment…

Face/name as signifiers of identity v.interesting  (as drawing predates writing and possibly speech-does/did artistic skill form significant parts of identity).
Cro-magners/hunter gatherers in a completely different imaginative space/social hierarchy did they have such an individualistic sense of identity?

I enjoy the performative elements as much as the factual story of reproductions…I am intrigued about genetics , evolution, personally and can see a strong bond to this work. I would like to see the images merging and merging…how long will it take for identical images to appear. A bit of a monkey/typewriter/shakespear thing going on.
Do people who are created have stories of their own?
Gender can be circumvented through your process…
I would also like to mention that people are such an ugly kind of animal, I don’t know you can bear to work with them.

I’d love to know how unique my name is! The masks are both beautiful and scary, familiar yet unknown (strange). It’s slightly unnerving to hear a familiar voice that has become unfamiliar to look at because of the mask. Quite powerful as well as no expressions.
It seems like there is a lot of scope for this sort of thing, seeing as myspace etc. has become so popular.
I don’t think that a name has so much bearing on your character. More so, people choose nick names based on their personality.
